Texas Common Application Essay

Topic A: Write an essay in which you tell us about someone who has made an impact on your life and explain how and why this person is important to you.

Sometimes is difficult to build character in an environment which has alot of obstacles and the type of people that surround you. Makes you want to be independent and unique. The choice is on yours, what you choose will be the outcome. My choice... I decided to make my mom proud be the first one to graduate from high school and continue my education to the fullest. Its not easy but with her help I'm sure to achieve my goal and be able to succeed in life.

My mom has always supported an education for her kids she wants the best for my sisters and me. I have learned that without an education I will not be able to go far in life. My mom did not had the opportunity to go to school and get an education, but she knows is important to be successful. My mom's story inspires me to achieve my goals like going to college and get a career which later in life I could tell my kids how important is to have one.

When I'm at school and I feel like "slacking" off I remember what my mom tells me "A leader never gives up"-Mom, that quote will stay forever with me it gives me hope when I need it the most I think if I give up now its like I'm turning down my mom's words which I will not let happen. My number one priority is be successful so my mom could be proud of me and she will know I did it for the best although with many sacrifices but I made it until the end of the journey.

My life could not be complete without my mom. She is my inspiration the purpose to want to be somebody and be able to make her feel as well as be proud. My mom is important to me because she has set a foundation in my life the need to be educated, with her positive adittude, stories and advice my life has been impacted in a positive way the will to have an education is the best, even better if you have the chance why not take it?....."Never take a shortcut, better is to take the longer journey which makes you a better person" - Mom. The shorcut will be quiting school but the journey will be , be a leader and have an education....my choice I will begin the journey instead of the shorcut.
